Cellular Glass

FOAMGLAS® insulation, also known as cellular glass, is a lightweight, rigid insulating material made up of millions of completely sealed glass cells. This distinct cell structure is naturally water resistant and serves as a highly effective vapor barrier (will not absorb flammable liquids or vapors). It is also resistant to common chemicals and the majority of corrosive environments. It can withstand temperatures ranging from -450°F to +900°F (-268°C to +482°C).

Cellular glass is a novel type of inorganic thermal insulating material with an evenly closed cell structure. It is mostly made of glass that has been heated and baked in a high-temperature tunnel furnace before being annealed. It retains the chemical stability of inorganic glass excellently. As a result, it has low density, low thermal conductivity, vapour impermeability, no water absorption, incombustibility, resistance to mold and rat eating, high mechanical strength while being easy to cut, and resistance to all chemical erosions except hydrofluoric acid.

The Cellular Glass is made with a patented cold insulation process and offers an attractive, sturdy design that will complement virtually any setting. It can hold up to 16 ounces of liquid and comes in a variety of colors to fit any style.

Sectional pipe covering and fittings, board segments for equipment, and curved segments for tank wall and head applications are all available. Cellular glass insulation can be applied and finished with a wide range of adhesives and finishes.
